Mold Design Principle
Because different molding dies have been used in many fields, and the manufacturing technology of professional dies has also undergone some changes and development in recent years, mold manufacturers have summarized the general design rules of vacuum suction molding dies in this part.
The design of vacuum forming mold includes batch size, forming equipment, precision conditions, geometric design, dimensional stability and surface quality.
1. For large and small batch experiments, the mold output is small, and can be made of wood or resin. However, if the mold used in the experiment is to obtain the data about the shrinkage, dimensional stability and cycle time of the product, the single cavity mold should be used for the experiment, and it can be used under the production conditions. Mold is generally made of gypsum, copper, aluminum or aluminum steel alloy, and aluminum resin is rarely used.
2. In geometric shape design, dimensional stability and surface quality should be considered comprehensively. For example, the female mold (female mold) is required for product design and dimensional stability, but the male mold (male mold) is required for products with high surface gloss. In this way, the plastic parts ordering party will take these two points into account comprehensively, so that the products can be produced under good conditions. Experience has proved that designs that do not meet the actual processing conditions are often failures.
3. The dimension is stable. In the molding process, the contact surface of the plastic part with the mold is better than the dimension stability of the part leaving the mold. If the material thickness is required to be changed due to the need of material stiffness in the future, it may lead to the conversion of male mold to female mold. The dimensional tolerance of plastic parts shall not be less than 10% of the shrinkage.
